Volunteer Code of Conduct & Terms of Agreement



Code of Conduct

As a volunteer at the National Celtic Folk Festival we contribute to the success of the festival by:

  • Exhibiting a positive and friendly approach at all times, ensuring festival attendees and other volunteers have an enjoyable and memorable experience whilst also promoting the festival as a fun and diverse event
  • Always demonstrating the volunteer ethic by being mindful of situations requiring attention or resolution. Notify the volunteer coordinator if you are unsure or for serious matter, or where possible, use your initiative (i.e. rubbish removal, water refill, directions etc.)
  • Respecting and assisting each other (crew, other volunteers, patrons) to the best of our ability;
  • Respecting all people we come in contact with regardless of their race, religion, colour or age;
  • Be aware of any issues that may cause problems and report to the Volunteer Co-ordinator;
  • Contributing to the festivals goal of zero waste by not bringing single use plastics to site, disposing of waste in the appropriate bins, and assisting patrons to do the same
  • Ensuring we are not under the effects of drugs or alcohol while volunteering.

Terms of Agreement

  • I agree to abide by the Code of Conduct.
  • I agree to carry out my volunteer tasks according to the hours I am rostered to.
  • I agree to contact the Volunteer Co-ordinator as early as possible if circumstances prevent my being able to undertake volunteering at the festival either prior to the festival or on the day of my shift.
  • I agree not to talk to the media or make public comments whilst fulfilling my volunteer role.
  • If I breach the Code of Conduct, I acknowledge I may be relieved of my duties and escorted from the site. Such conduct may also result in denial of future volunteer applications.
  • I acknowledge that breaching the Code of Conduct may result in being asked to leave the festival site and may inhibit my ability to volunteer for future festivals.
